Linde RoCap — Automated Order Picker. Robotic truck for order picking, gross load capacity 1600 kg.
The Linde Robotic Case Picker (RoCaP) is an order picker that can move unmanned through the warehouse to pick orders. It is equipped with a four-axis gripper arm that picks individual packages and places them on an integrated carrier. This warehouse truck can help address the existing skilled labor shortage and relieve employees of physically demanding tasks.
The Linde RoCaP is based on the Linde L-MATIC HD, an automated stacker with a load capacity of 1.6 tons and a travel speed of up to 7.2 km/h. A new feature is the robotic arm. Permanently attached to the fork carriage, it picks up the packages and places them on the forks. It can optionally be equipped with a roll container support structure. This is supported by steel supports and features a folding ramp attached to the truck. This allows the roll containers to be moved up and down while simultaneously holding them in place during transport.
The Linde RoCaP receives its commands from a warehouse management system. Linde software, the so-called RoCaP management system, determines the picking sequence based on various parameters. At the picking location, the robot’s gripper arm is deployed. A camera system helps determine which item should be picked at that location. Naturally, this requires considerable computing power and programming. The robot arm uses a vacuum gripper to pick the package.
The RoCap has now been deployed at one customer, namely a DC for a German drugstore chain. Linde emphasizes that the RoCap must be adapted to the specific situation in each warehouse, but that it is essentially suitable for a wide range of situations. This automated truck can also be deployed in aisles where warehouse employees are also picking.
