Groenewout – Training Nedtrain personnel in Lean Manufacturing. Training of Nedtrain employees.
Nedtrain is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and repair of railway rolling stock. The company has implemented a lean manufacturing system to make delivery times more reliable. This encompasses shop floor organization, planning, and parts supply. Groenewout was engaged to train employees on how to work with this new system.
Groenewout developed a game using Lego bricks to clarify the new principles to the employees. The game was played with participants divided into four groups: supplier, warehouse, staging, and engineering. The instruction was to assemble eight railway wagons using the Lego bricks, with the bricks being moved through the chain to engineering in various ways.
Groenewout succeeded in conveying the new concept to the employees in a playful and positive manner.
